Streusel Crunch Topping


  • ½ cup dark brown sugar, packed
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup white whole wheat flour
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract


  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Line a sheet pan with parchment paper and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, combine sugar, cinnamon, and both flours.
  • Add butter and extract.
  • Blend with fingers to form clumps.
  • Spread mixture onto sheet pan and bake for 10 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and move around with an offset spatula. Return to oven for another 5 minutes or until streusel is nice and brown. It will continue to crisp up as it cools.
  • Store in an air-tight container for up to a week.


Makes approximately 2 cups
