Easy Pizza


Pizza Dough

  • 5 cups bread flour
  • ½ cup cornmeal
  • 2 tablespoons vital wheat gluten
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon plus 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 2 cups plus 2 tablespoons warm water approximately 110° Fahrenheit, and more if dough is too dry
  • ¼ cup plus 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • Olive oil for greasing pans


  • Pizza sauce homemade or store bought
  • 3 8 ounce packages shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Other toppings can include:
  • Black olives sliced mushrooms, quartered artichoke hearts, cooked sausage, sliced pepperoni, torn fresh basil
  • Olive oil to drizzle pizzas before baking


Make the Dough

  • Preheat oven to 550° Fahrenheit.
  • Whisk together the bread flour, cornmeal, vital wheat gluten, salt, garlic powder, onion powder and instant yeast.
  • Add the warm water and olive oil to the dry ingredients. If the dough is too dry, add more water, a tablespoon at a time.
  • Knead dough for 1-2 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place dough in a large bowl sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Flip dough over so greased side is up. Cover with plastic wrap. Allow to rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Divide dough in half. Place each half onto a 14 inch round pizza pan that has been lightly oiled.. Press dough out evenly in each pan.

Assembly and Baking

  • Top pizza with sauce, mozzarella cheese and other toppings of your choice.
  • Drizzle olive oil over pizzas before baking.
  • Bake for 10-15 minutes or until crust is nice and brown and cheese is bubbly.
  • Remove from oven and scatter each pizza with torn fresh basil.
