Easy Pizza
Ingredients
Pizza Dough
- 5 cups bread flour
- ½ cup cornmeal
- 2 tablespoons vital wheat gluten
- 2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon plus 2 teaspoons instant yeast
- 2 cups plus 2 tablespoons warm water approximately 110° Fahrenheit, and more if dough is too dry
- ¼ cup plus 2 teaspoons olive oil
- Olive oil for greasing pans
Assembly
- Pizza sauce homemade or store bought
- 3 8 ounce packages shredded mozzarella cheese
- Other toppings can include:
- Black olives sliced mushrooms, quartered artichoke hearts, cooked sausage, sliced pepperoni, torn fresh basil
- Olive oil to drizzle pizzas before baking
Instructions
Make the Dough
- Preheat oven to 550° Fahrenheit.
- Whisk together the bread flour, cornmeal, vital wheat gluten, salt, garlic powder, onion powder and instant yeast.
- Add the warm water and olive oil to the dry ingredients. If the dough is too dry, add more water, a tablespoon at a time.
- Knead dough for 1-2 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a large bowl sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Flip dough over so greased side is up. Cover with plastic wrap. Allow to rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Divide dough in half. Place each half onto a 14 inch round pizza pan that has been lightly oiled.. Press dough out evenly in each pan.
Assembly and Baking
- Top pizza with sauce, mozzarella cheese and other toppings of your choice.
- Drizzle olive oil over pizzas before baking.
- Bake for 10-15 minutes or until crust is nice and brown and cheese is bubbly.
- Remove from oven and scatter each pizza with torn fresh basil.
